As a resident of Lesser Carolina, it is not fun watching one of my federal representatives live post their mental breakdown in real time.

I suppose an interesting commentary on the nature of belief, especially in today’s complicated world. As in, once you lock in a belief, you have to reconcile it with your other beliefs, plus whatever actual facts & reality are able to penetrate your skull. Kinda reminds me of the old Star Trek episodes in which Captain Kirk gives a computer more than it’s able to reconcile, and the computer winds up shaking itself to pieces.

To me it sounds exhausting, but YMMV.

Four times out of 78 means one in 20 episodes. That’s a lot. That’s more than evil twins or shuttle crashes. Not that I keep up on these kinds of things.

But wait, there’s more! (just checked a bit)

The 4th time I was thinking of was android leader “Norman” in I, Mudd, but I’m reminded that there was another android “Ruk” (Lurch, i.e. Ted Cassidy) in What are Little Girls Made of? In which Kirk talked him out of killing him, and instead attacked his creator, getting him phaser-blasted. So… arguably 5/78 times!
