It’s a running joke that English teachers get pregnant, probably sampling bias, a person who lives in an english speaking country will see more English teachers than any other teacher.
Is this a common joke? I’m not from an english speaking country and I never heard any joke about pregnant teachers
It is a crazy bad joke. My english-teacher in elementary school however did get pregnant two years in a row and my shit school did not substitute her right away, making me miss over half a year of lessons between 4th and 6th grade.
Having the need for (at least 1:1) reproduction of workers and at the same time blaming women for getting pregnant because your system is chronically understaffed really is one of those super smart contradictions in capitalism. Yikes, I hope we get rid of it in my lifetime and preferably before all of earth is uninhabitable.
