Gotta disagree with this one. Forums have worked fine for decades for disseminating information. Lemmy is a perfect example of this. Terrible argument imo.
Not sure I follow your argument. Are you saying that, because forums exist and can be used to communicate, it’s okay and not illegal to lock teens out of every other online space?
lol no. The EFF argument is that we need recommender algorithms or teens are losing their free speech, which is hilariously wrong to the point of harm. Lemmy has no recommender algorithm just like the majority of forums in existence, saying they stop free speech is a horrendous argument.
