after 15 years, iOS has finally caught up with all the main android features, such as
- very mid ui design
- kinda floaty feeling
- unpolished vibe android itself has progressed little, although it is rapidly achieving feature parity with iOS on “locked down user hostility”. overall both ecosystems look very appealing, energetic, and healthy, for shareholders
Shittest thing about Android phones are all those third party apps, which you can’t even remove (looking at especially you, Samsung) Facebook, and so on. Unbelievable amount of bloat ware with almost every manufacturer. I would like to have Samsung, but I just can’t stand its UI and those apps.
Crazy how they even let other manufacturers modify base Android. Even the settings menus are all over the place. Searching for specific settings is basically impossible if you’re not on a Pixel or something.
Don’t even get me started on the dev side of things. Makes Windows habit of stacking 30 years of shit look like paradise.
Yes and you have to make Google account, Samsung account and what else before you can use all the features. It’s was totally mess, when I last had Samsung. Their hardware is very nice, though.
There’s a program called universal android debloater which let’s you delete pretty much anything you want. I’ve used it and it’s like a miracle.
Still once you get to that stage it’s so much more tempting to skip that and get busy on trying to get postmarketOS going or something.
This isn’t the case on their flagships in the EU (not sure which is the reason).
I have never had Facebook or other crap preinstalled since my Samsung Note 10.
That said, samsung best be avoided anyway.
likely there are still some system apps that are literal bloatware. if you have f-droid you can check the debloater list in this app, has descriptions on most of them.
