With beehaw de-federating from lemmy.world (and seemingly most of the fediverse and this point), myself and many others no longer have a way to even lurk beehaw. Coupled with the fact that beehaw seems to gate-keep their registration, I’m wondering if there’s a way to at least lurk their instance without needing an account. I know it can be done via their website. Is that something Jerboa supports as well?
Honestly I am not sure if I should just give up on Lemmy already or be doomed to forever constantly find a new instance that either do not block any of the communities I want or isn’t blocked by the instances my communities are on. My current instance decided to block the largest furry instance because it contains adult material, does it get any more childish? And the beehaw situation is just a terrible outlook of what is to come. Reddit has boards for everything that I can freely travel, and if Lemmy can’t even do the basics right what use does it have.
Give it time. There are no modding tools or means to curate personalised feeds without flooding an instance with the contents of the other. I’m sure those will surface eventually
It already makes no sense in the case of beehaw, they just try to create a community free of any criticism, not even downvotes. And in the case of my instance blocking the largest furry board, that’s out of pure spite or a personal dislike for adult content by the operators, I see nothing else. This is not the base for building something that can compete with Reddit. If I do not want to see something, I don’t subscribe to that community, if I don’t like something I downvote it, if I don’t want to see someone again I block him. Those are all the moderation tools needed, and they are all already here.
