I use CalDav for calendar, contacts and tasks sync and share with the rest of the family.
Server is Nextcloud with WebDav/WebCal/CardDav and DavX5, Etar calendar, native contacts and OpenTasks on android. On Linux WebDav to access and sync Nextcloud files.
How do you use them?
Edit: Added CardDav for contacts.
Floccus is nice to sync browser bookmarks via Webdav (it also has a Nextcloud addon)
In general there are a lot of note taking apps that allow syncing notes via Webdav. I recently came accross this one which works quite nicely: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/io.github.quillpad/
I use webdav on my VPS (running Debian / Apache) for syncing my keepass vault, 2FA vault, and specific files (including vehicle/generator maintenance logs) across my devices. Obviously, everything is encrypted up the wazoo (well… maybe not the generator maintenance log) - and backed-up (admittedly to GDrive, but it uses a 12kbit key, so have fun decrypting it).
I am, however, of the opinion that not having any sort of digital footprint can appear very suspicious, so I maintain a completely normal-looking-and-innocent collection of contacts, calendar, tasks in my GMail.
I’m running a yunohost server with a Nextcloud instance on top. I’ve got nextcloud syncing my files, of course. I use WebDav/WebCal for syncing all of my contacts and calendars across my linux and android devices.
Is there a lightweight sever for WebDAV? Or is running NextCloud the best option?
I think Nextcloud is an easy option. Lots og dedicated WebDav servers out there. For CardDav and CalDav (Contacts and calendar) I rembember that Radicale is a good bet: https://radicale.org/v3.html
