  • I had a Libra 2 and sadly I forgot it on a train.

I have a Libra Colour now and honestly it’s not very different to me. I think I noticed that the max brightness of the display or the max darkness of the e ink is slightly less…TBH I only noticed that after someone mentioned that to me. Maybe I don’t use it in conditions where that makes any meaningful difference.

I don’t really care about the colour feature. If one reads a lot of comics then it would be a benefit.

One way in which the Colour is better than the 2, is that it’s faster. The Libra 2 has a single-core 1 GHz processor, where the Colour has a dual-core 2 GHz processor. Big deal I guess but I do remember getting bothered with the latency of navigating/browsing for books on the old one.

The Colour has stylus support which you may find fun if you like drawing, which I do. It’s not that great of a sketchbook though, the drawing software is crappy and this is not a good reason to buy it IMO. any actual art-oriented non e-ink tablet is a much better tool.

People like to talk about the 2 like it was the best in all ways, it was good but honestly not some kind of superlative experience—the Colour is fine and for my purposes it’s the old one but faster.

You are right about the price tho, I think they bumped it up from when the 2 was the newest, I think i paid 50 bux more for it over the 2. Everything is more expensive now I suppose :/
