I mean… communities is the official term, makes sense to use it. No idea where the others come from - except magazines, that is a kbin thing.
It certainly needs an experimental phase, I was just doing research and checking out instances and whatnot first few days. You might find this tool useful for browsing instances and communities: https://lemmyverse.net/
Not too late at all. To change instances however, ypu need to register on that instance and do a new account. There isn’t a way to switch instances on one account. Many are hoping there will be at one point a functionality to export stuff from one account to another but I have no idea how realistic that is.
There is no denying you will be warm though.
Looking forward for the inevitable legendary lemmy posts sometime down the line and me being able to say I was there for it.
I heard about horses dying from the stress caused by fireworks. It can also be hurtful to wildlife.
I’ve read this is coming in next release I think
I remember reddit being super confusing when I started using it, it clickex in time - I assume it will click here as well.
The main issue for me is the communities are much smaller, as well as the userbase - which means some communities straight up don’t exist here, because there is not many people interested and even less willing or able to create them.
I didn’t burn any bridges with reddit, but certainly plan to spend my time here.
There are many, here is a nice tool for you to check out what is there: https://lemmyverse.net/
