    The difference is NPCs exist only for the main character’s experience. Oblivion’s Adoring Fan does not have a life outside of interacting with the main character or an existence outside of when the human in the external reality controls the main character in the simulated reality. In our reality there is apparently no main character. Everything and everyone simply is. To learn one is an NPC is to realise that everything one has done is artificial and confined to the boundaries of someone else’s experience. A created slave with a hollow origin and no means of escaping a forced purpose.

    "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

    Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

    During this time of relaxation and reflection, Humpty had a revelation. Life is beautiful. The natural cycle must be honoured. Humpty offered their body to nature and became pure energy. Life throughout the universe vibrated with Humpty’s energy. All was Humpty. And Humpty was All.

    For several years Humpty’s absence went unnoticed. Then people started realising there was a constant void in their lives. Something was not as it used to be. When they realised Humpty had disappeared, they searched the lands far and wide for any sign of Humpty. Eventually they located Humpty’s old residence, now reclaimed by nature. Vines, bushes, cobwebs, mould, and other life had flourished, becoming increasingly concentrated toward an apparent epicenter. At the epicenter, deep within the Humpty Core, lay a few surviving fragments of Humpty’s shell.
