24·2 days agoEnglish names of days are weird. You have the day of the sun and the moon, ok. Fine. Then Tuesday - Friday are norse gods (Tyr, Odin, Thor, Freya), but what’s Saturday doing there?! Saturn is a completely different pantheon!
In Czech we have it simple - Monday is “after Sunday”, then there’s Secondday, Middleday, Fourthday, Fifthday, Sabbath and Not-working-day.

4·2 days agoYeah, nowadays the word is used from its brutality, not the exact number. The point is not just that every 10th was killed, but that the rest of them were made to do it.
Also Columbus didn’t set out to prove the earth is a sphere but to prove it is much smaller than thought. He was wrong, the Americas saved his ass.
I wouldn’t have an issue with them sucking my blood in moderation, I have a lot of the stuff, sure, go ahead. But why do the bites need to itch afterwards? That’s a dick move and a bit counterproductive tbh

5·4 days agoSome code responsible for flickering light that was originally a part of the Quake engine has been kept as the engine evolved through GoldSrc to the modern version of Source engine. All these games have lights that flicker in exactly the same rhythm.
