This post is designed to keep people voting for the purple party.
Look around the world. Most places [have systems that] do not succumb to this corrupt harmful stupidity.
Vote and organise harder around independents and “3rd party” candidates. Especially any seeking to implement proportional representation, ranked choice voting, direct democracy, etc. Double especially for any seeking to eliminate the various layers of corruption in the democratic system, such as proprietary voting machines, voter suppression, the electoral college, lobbying, gerrymandering, etc.
The problem is that third party is uncommon at the state level, let alone federal. We need to abolish first pastb the post to have real choice. Until then I am voting for the candidate I can deal with that I believe will be elected. It’s a crappy head game, but it is also our reality until something changes tangibly.
The obvious answer to people not being willing to vote for shitty and evil democrats is not to whine at those people (because, dont you know, the republicans are 20% more shitty and 5% more evil!), it’s for the democrats to stop being shitty and evil. They have the power in this relationship. They would rather lose than stop being shitty and evil, and you’re saying “help them win anyway” and that’s just ridiculous.
e: I realized maybe you’re not doing that. I’m not trying to criticize your choice to vote for democrats. That’s your business, and none of mine! I’m trying to say “stop criticizing people for not voting for democrats when democrats will do absolutely nothing to help the situation in any meaningful way”
That is fun that that’s getting downvotes. “No! Don’t take my purple party away from me! I like proprietary voting machines, voter suppression, the electoral college, lobbying, gerrymandering, etc.” XD

And most of all… stop falling for it.

And you think the democrats will do that? lol

Now? No. After their party is reformed by primarying the bad actors? Yeah, sure. Way more possible than letting actual fascists have control.
A 3rd party will not win the presidency or either house of Congress. A revolution is not happening.
Your option is to reform the Democrat party or accept the worst case scenario.
Act accordingly.
P.S. Party reform is entirely possible. Conservatives just did it in the worst way possible to the Republican party over the last 1-2 decades.
I’ll gladly consider a third party prospect, but there has not been a presidential candidate that could compete on that stage in a very long time.
Regarding local politicians, I will make the best judgement possible.
Your suggestion works for local/state elections. It does not work for presidential elections and won’t anytime in the foreseeable future.
When it comes to the presidential election, you are voting Republican, Democrat, or acknowledging you are fine with the worse case scenario.
