the author is right about the power and control driving away tiktok and i’ve seen the tiktok influencers try to move their flocks onto another platform; never realizing that the other platforms will bury their feeds since their narratives are not in line with our ruling’s classes’ desires.

roughly 20 million people rely on tiktok as their sole source of income (much more so as a partial source); this ban is effectively going to become the biggest layoff in american history. (to put it into perspective; that’s the populations of several states combined while the next largest layoff was tens of thousands in size).

It’s also such a bold move towards cutting down on first amendment on national security justifications; the material conditions are there, it is what’s radicalizing little timmy into either a commie or a fascist. It’s not tik tok, per se, as tik tok is merely a platform for expressing of discontent. Ruling class thinks they can force everyone into shitstagram and threads (ugh). And initially they will, but things are gonna get uglier and what will they do?

I personally think this is, to some extent, a good thing, because social media and slacktivism are a fucking plague on progressive causes. Actual praxis needs to occur out in the real world.

… it is what’s radicalizing little timmy into either a commie or a fascist …

i wonder if they will; i’m on tiktok and an overwhelming majority of them reject leftist ideologies.

when it comes to praxis: the common consensus (ime) is that it’s little more than wishful thinking for intellectuals and theory is little more than a book club.

they still at least acknowledge that there’s something wrong about our system, but they continue to point the finger at leftists and conservatives as i once did; so maybe there’s hope.
