Obviously there are still some issues when you adjust for trade, but even then it is pretty close.. The gap is looking very likely to widen, with China building new coal power plants and the EU accelerating its move away from fossil fuels, due to the energy war with Russia. It is important to say this kind of stuff, as a lot of middle income coutries have about the level of emissions of the EU nowadays and that shows action is needed. It also strengthens the moral position of the EU somewhat.
