Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3 still dominate the US EV market, accounting for about half of the market on their own

    These figures are bizarre:

“Comparing Q2 2025 to Q2 2023, it’s a similar story, but the Chevy Blazer EV, Cadillac LYRIQ, GMC Hummer EV, and Nissan ARIYA stand out the most on the plus side this time.”

Other than the Blazer, who is buying these? I think I’ve seen maybe one Hummer EV on the road in my lifetime. I haven’t seen any Lyriq or Ariya.

Also, how many of these sales are actually leases?

This is just my personal experience, but thenumber of people I know who had always paid cash for a late model used car in the past who leased for the first time because of their income excluded them from taking advantage of the tax credits is shocking. I think many of these people will likely go back to an ICE option if the cost hasn’t come down or they aren’t offered a deal on the buy out option.

It’s going to be a VERY interesting market in 2-3 years.

I actually see a lot of lyriqs (relatively speaking, as many as other Cadillac midsize SUVs) and a few ariya. Never seen a Hummer ev on the road though

I’ve seen multiple Hummer EV SUVs and pickups in Denver suburbs and the mountains above town. It’s the perfect fit for some of the conspicuous consumption suburbanites and gorp-core finance and tech people.
