Use the international feed…?
I much prefer the f1tv commentary team, personally.
I like Hinch, he can speak and is knowledgeable about more than a lot of the other English commentators. Do you not like his commentary?
In general we’re at a transitional moment I think for the commentary in English. The Sky commentary is increasingly tired and repetitive. Martin Brundle surely can’t be too far away from retiring, and Crofty’s almost fanatical commitment to not knowing who or what he is looking at is wearing increasingly thin. Given he doesn’t have the child-like awe and sense of wonder Murray Walker had, which let him get away with it. But thankfully he’s having more and more time off these days.
My dream team right now would be Alex Jacques and Alex Brundle as the main commentary team on international, as a direct replacement for Martin and Crofty. They are ready to go and the purists get the younger sounding Brundle still for continuity; the rest of the commentary team are much less important overall but if you’re going to pad out 10+ hours of extra content per race weekend, you’ll need some extra people.
Anthony Davidson is probably the best technical commentator Sky have right now. Palmer is great. Hinch, Coulthard, Schiff can all sling a mic perfectly fine in my opinion.
The only thing I could not stand changing is Ted’s Notebook in some format, doesn’t necessarily need to be after every session, but at least after the race. This needs protecting IMHO.
Oh and Rachel Brooks for maximum savagery disguised as parental concern in her pit lane interviews. Those are golden, let’s keep those.
Hinch isn’t my favourite commentator but I can recognise that he has experience etc so no huge issue or anything.
It’s mostly the paddock club adverts this weekend that have been the problem. Did you see them?
Watching on sky this weekend! Although when I can’t watch live, I usually try to watch the F1TV broadcast for the aforementioned reasons
Whilst is was a bit cringey seeing him in the paddock club, it was a bit funny when he tried to get a quick answer from that kid who didn’t speak English.
