What’s more impressive is all that detail in something smaller than a peanut - the piece is 1.5cm large, accordingly to the site. And carnelian is silicon dioxide, like quartz; not exactly a soft rock. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took the artist months to make this tiny piece.

Definitely a lozenge if I’ve ever seen one.
Looks like it’d make a good stamp or press.
Love the distinct style. Looks like what you’d get when Egyptian and Roman iconography merge. Of course the chronology is the other way around, the Etruscans came first and heavily influenced Roman culture.
I’m also enjoying that it looks like it’s on the scale of a pantomime horse.
So just about two warriors – two! – came busting out of the thing at night, stealthily opened up the gates, and thus Troy fell. Now if only someone had managed to write down their heroic names. 😕
