What a time to be alive
Critical support I guess. Can I sue Nintendo afterwards for enshittifying themselves?
I have one dollar and no lawyers

Trump has twice now (from what I’ve read here on hb) infringed on nintendo’s copyright for campaign stuff, but it’s tariffs they sue him over. So that just goes to show they don’t actually lose any more from ip theft in the first place.
I absolutely thought when I clicked this that it was related to the pokemon MAGA post from earlier today, but of course they don’t care about that. Perfectly ok with that messaging and brand image, and hey, it’s free advertising!

Nintendo are fucking weird with how they sue. Like didn’t they sue Palworld over game mechanics instead of sueing them for something a little more viable like stolen assets?
Idiots.
Yeah they won’t go after a game that directly copies them and is making money, and yet a free fan project gets the lawsuit.
When they go after random fan projects, it’s almost always things named like “Zelda 4” or “Mario Odyssey 2” or some other title that Nintendo might hypothetically make. Often they bill themselves as “official” for some damn reason. Meanwhile, smwcentral has a billion hacks named like “Storks & Apes & Crocodiles” and Nintendo doesn’t give a shit.
It’s pretty clearly them trying to defend their trademarks, and the unofficial rules are “don’t make it look official.” And yeah it sucks that Nintendo enforces this by sending a scary cease and desist letter instead of being like “hey change the name of that before we have to do something,” but fuck is it easy to avoid their ire.
goes all the way back to the nes era with that “stop calling other consoles nintendo” poster cuz they were afraid of genericization
