What a time to be alive

Critical support I guess. Can I sue Nintendo afterwards for enshittifying themselves?

I have one dollar and no lawyers

Trump has twice now (from what I’ve read here on hb) infringed on nintendo’s copyright for campaign stuff, but it’s tariffs they sue him over. So that just goes to show they don’t actually lose any more from ip theft in the first place.

I absolutely thought when I clicked this that it was related to the pokemon MAGA post from earlier today, but of course they don’t care about that. Perfectly ok with that messaging and brand image, and hey, it’s free advertising! porky-happy brrrrrrrrrrrr

Nintendo are fucking weird with how they sue. Like didn’t they sue Palworld over game mechanics instead of sueing them for something a little more viable like stolen assets?

      Idiots.

When they go after random fan projects, it’s almost always things named like “Zelda 4” or “Mario Odyssey 2” or some other title that Nintendo might hypothetically make. Often they bill themselves as “official” for some damn reason. Meanwhile, smwcentral has a billion hacks named like “Storks & Apes & Crocodiles” and Nintendo doesn’t give a shit.

It’s pretty clearly them trying to defend their trademarks, and the unofficial rules are “don’t make it look official.” And yeah it sucks that Nintendo enforces this by sending a scary cease and desist letter instead of being like “hey change the name of that before we have to do something,” but fuck is it easy to avoid their ire.

My greatest hope from all of this is that Trump tweets or says something about Nintendo.

"As a long time gamer. Thars right folks, I game. I jusr don’t talk about it often, cause im not a loser. Not a loser. Ive gotten many of thr highest scores. And that’s going way back folks. Way back! The 80s. Back in the 80s i had one of the Frogger Machines in one of my hotels. I could get that frog everywhere. Cause it was my machine. I had to have the top score. If you go to a hotel and see at the arcade the owner doesnt have the high score, maybe hasn’t even played the game, doesnt know if its good or not. That’s bad business. Bad business. I saw a lot of other hotels fail. Now Nintendo was great. They have been great! Ninja Gaiden, Megaman 2, Castlevania, folks. Castle. Vania. I thought they were amazing. And now, they have these games. Mario Kart for 80$! 80$! And when you buy it you’re going around in your kart vrroooom, and you go to play online, its all straightaways. Transition tracks. Not real tracks folks, not like they used to make. If you get lucky you get a real 3 lap race every once in a while. Its sad. Shameful. I’ll keep my Switch One thank you. Thank you. That was a fantastic console, but now its time to say ‘bye’ to Non-Tendo

Nintendo is going to smoke them. This is absolutely going to end in either immediate payment and appeasement, an executive order, or a new supreme court ruling.
