I live in a medium sized southern town (US) and it’s already happening. We have one homeless shelter that I drive past every day. It’s mostly folks 50 and over. Several in wheelchairs. I’ve seen at least two folks in chairs with no legs. The crowd seems to get bigger every month. There’s a row of abandoned businesses across the street and lots of them set up tents there during the day. Some just sleep on the ground out in the open. One of the deepest red states btw.

well at least you have shelters. some communities not even have that. oh and if you set up your own tent, guess what, that’s illegal too.

they just passed a law that makes “public camping” illegal here. GOP is trying so hard to make being poor a crime. reminds me of a line in that Mel Brooks movie Life Stinks. “They forced us to live in the crap, and now they want to take the crap away!”

in small rural communities, there’s often only one political organization. i’ve been there, i’ve seen it. i wanted to vote left but guess what, they don’t even run. and those that do are fringe groups with no connections.

They do have “all” the wealth, or at least a disproportionate amount of it.

However, just because boomers have all the wealth does not mean that all boomers are wealthy.

Well right of course not I guess I’m just surprised how many aren’t. There must be an insane amount of outliers to skew everything the way it is. I wonder in financial literacy was lower generationally, although the article does state that a lot of it is not being a white man, but even then the stated 250k is abysmally low.

“boomers have all the wealth” is something that younger people post on social media to have some group to hate on to feel better about their own situation. it’s not actually true. most boomers are about as wealthy or poor as you’d expect a normal person to be, some built some wealth a few decades ago when wages were still high, some are broke.
