    Afaik the specific reason for this is that academically Chinese engineers must publish patents as part of their dissertation, and then continue filing patents as a kind of résumé.

    in United States you must spend lots of money to get AI responses. Those lower cost ones are simply banned by the state in order to help the expensive ones stay afloat
