Now the average Taco Bell outing is $10-12 for me. And that’s if I only order the value menu stuff. It’s considerably cheaper than any other fast food option, but still too expensive.

Tacobell makes zero sense. Like a Gordita Crunch is $6 by itself, but I can get a box with one, including a taco, burrito, and a side, with a drink for $7.

The Gordita should be like $3-$4 at most. It used to be a double decker taco was like $1.99 and a normal taco was like $1.69, so why buy a taco.

I do NOT understand the boxes, but I appreciate them.

My local store even offers cheesy/sour cream potatoes as the side.

I can buy in bulk and make it a bit cheaper. But I’d have to make a week’s worth, and I still can’t quite nail their pita bread.

That idea only works if there are cheaper options available or going without is possible. If there’s no place to get cheaper food you still have to eat. In my experience food is expensive everywhere.

Fast food should be the first thing you drop, it’s honestly sad that these companies aren’t dying out as their prices match actual restaurant price, for way worse quality (sometimes)

The comment I am responding to states that inflation is caused by consumers’ choice to keep buying. Thus, if one doesn’t want food to be expensive, one should not buy food, problem solved. What am I misunderstanding? Can you explain how can I make food cheaper by not buying it?

Second question. What happens after I voted with my wallet and now taco bell is cheaper again? Can I buy it then? Or will that make it expensive again?

Good for you. Still, food prices, including groceries, increased by unusually large amounts multiple times in the past 5 years. I don’t think the only problem with food affordability is the lifestyle of people who are not you. You are kind of suggesting that only restaurants are expensive, and groceries aren’t, which is simply not true.

In 2020, food prices increased 3.4 percent, including prices for food at home (3.5-percent increase) and food away from home (3.4-percent increase).

In 2022, food prices increased by 9.9 percent, faster than in any year since 1979. Food-at-home prices increased by 11.4 percent. Food-away-from-home prices increased by 7.7 percent.

In 2023, food-at-home prices increased by 5.0 percent. Food-away-from-home prices increased by 7.1 percent.

Food-at-home prices increased by 1.2 percent in 2024 and 2.3 percent in 2025, lower than their historical average pace of growth (2.6 percent per year). Food-away-from-home prices rose by 4.1 percent in 2024 and 3.8 percent in 2025, still faster than their historical average (3.5 percent per year).

In 2026, prices for all food are forecast to increase 2.9 percent, with a forecast interval of 2.5 to 3.2 percent. Food-away-from-home prices are forecast to increase 3.5 percent, with a forecast interval of 3.3 to 3.8 percent. Food-at-home prices are forecast to increase 2.4 percent, with a forecast interval of 1.8 to 3.0 percent.

Better than nothing, but just barely. The general election is past the point at which you can choose the progressive candidate. If you’re able to choose between a progressive and a fascist in the general, congrats, you’re in an area where progressives have been able to get enough support.

If your choice is between an establishment centrist and a fascist, yeah, please vote for the non-fascist, but your support to get a progessive on the ballot might’ve been fucking nice to have, yeah?

VOTE BLUE as the only option against fascism, but if you’re only voting in the general election, you are supporting fascism. Vote in the primary. Give your support outside of voting - canvassing, protesting, even standing up for progressivism online - whatever you can do.

We need voting snacks. Australia has a voting hotdog as well as pastries with goofy puns (it’s also a holiday, but that’s not the point I’m making rn).

If we want people to vote then we need to spike their blood sugar Every Time and make a goddamned tradition out of the thing. Give me a voting hot dog, a voting knish, a voting donut. I’d look forward to it every two years.

A meal at a similar restaurant will usually cost much more and in more time.

This was not directed at the consumer but the company.

Taco Bell, et. al have lost the formula they’re trying to do good and fast but not cheap. They forgot who they are.

Considering how cheap stp is in surprised more fast food isn’t putting it to bump up their meat that would drastically cut down cost without a huge noticeable difference specifically with the taco bell beef.

People are agree because it’s no longer cheap but the price doesn’t warrant what you’re getting cause it’s still fast food lol
