Service truck had a flat, I don’t carry a spare. Bosses wife (so boss no 2 I guess) comes to get me while service truck gets towed to shop to get rim and tire replaced. Had my first and hopefully last ride in a cybertruck today. They’re pretty chintzy on the inside. Plastic is cheap, interior looks basic. Seat not comfy. Stereo just meh. The all-in-one PC sized touchscreen right in the middle is jarring. The information display being over what is traditionally the transmission bump is terrible in idea, and execution.
As an aside, I had her tell me about how she can haul so much stuff or ‘do truck stuff’ multiple times, like she’s selling herself on it or smth.
It’s got 4,800 miles on it and has spent multiple weeks on end in the shop due to recalls, or broke /malfunctioning stuff like the throttle, the tailgate, the charging system. But they can do truck stuff in it so who can even say if it’s bad or not.
Did she say the line?

At least you have an amusing story and didn’t die in a Cyberdumpster fire

obituary: He died pursuing his great passion which will remain our lasting memory of him: enjoying cybertruck rides.
I can imagine my friends at my memorial saying how they can’t believe how much I complained about elong and here I am secretly riding in cyberdumpsters.
i’ve seen it and pictures can’t do them justice. they look so silly irl, it’s hard to explain.
Whenever I see one of them I think of cheesy 1970s/1980s sci-fi movies where they want futuristic cars. But didn’t have the budget for anything but spraypaint, plywood, and the rental of a dune buggy, and they only have a single morning to make something. So they circular-saw a bunch of plywood rectangles, spraypaint them silver, and nail them together over the dune buggy and keep it secured with duct tape and bungee cords.
lol, this is hilarious! I think that this is literally how Cybertrucks are being built, going by the endless problems that owners seem to report with them.
I think that was the explicit aesthetic intent with Cybertrucks.
So true.
I’ll be honest, and it pains me to admit this, but from certain angles I can see what they were going for and it could’ve looked cool. From the back it just looks so stupid tho
on a positive note, I used to see way more of them on the road a few years ago
I can do truck stuff in my ancient Toyota hatchback too.
You can do truck stuff with a cargo bike
“This isn’t the flying one?” With a tone feigning disappointment.
But they can do truck stuff in it
yank “truck stuff” maybe
you know, the stuff you could do in a european hatchbackthough tbh a peugeot 206 is definitely better at puddles

I’m glad you survived the trip I bet those things would set on fire and lock you inside in a fender bender
Such on the nose experiences that sound fake (not calling you fake tho)
You should ask her to help you move something too big for it. Also I’m seeing way too many of them on the road around me. I knew I lived in a red area but I didn’t think they were ‘afford cybertrucks’ red.
I knew I lived in a red area but I didn’t think they were ‘afford cybertrucks’ red.
They can’t, most of the ones I see are “business” vehicles that they write off.
Ah, yeah that would make more sense.
Any $100,000 HD pickup is always actually a $0 pickup because they are exclusively in the realm of business owners and farmers who write off 100% of their ownership costs. In about 5 years all those cybertrucks will be pulling into high school parking lots in the morning just like every other HD pickup when the business owner gets a new one.
Anyone other than these ghouls that actually wants an electric pickup badly enough to purchase one in 2026 is getting a Silverado EV or a Rivian R1T. Most truck people are just sitting on their hands pipedreaming about a Slate or Telo and will end up disappointedly buying a Ford Fathom when both of those inevitably turn out to be vaporware.
Truly amazing how every Tesla has roughly the interior build quality of a 2000s bottom-market GM product with an iMac VHB taped to the dash. I am genuinely impressed by the fact that they’ve convinced a ton of people that their awful polyurethane seats are actually leather, though.
Truly the cheapest feeling cars I’ve had the displeasure of being inside in at least a decade and I like Daihatsus.
The interior is cheap. I don’t have a problem w cheap. All I can afford is cheap. But for what it’s claimed to be, and for what she is claiming she paid for it, it shouldn’t have the build quality of a ford festiva.
I really don’t even think it’s a cheap interior. Cheap implies it’s cost optimized or maybe affordable to maintain, but Tesla has made a really expensive interior out of the poorest materials they could find. All plastic surfaces in the cars are extremely thin, like an angry Kyle could annihilate the interior by smacking stuff where a Festiva’s interior would absolutely hold up.
Their cheapest car has an MSRP of $40,000 and check out how you replace the cabin air filter in this ONE MINUTE LONG GIF.

The clips intentionally break when you do this as most interior panels are made to be disposable and replaced completely during every service. If you DIY it, you will be putting the car back together with tape.
