Hoarding things is so strongly ingrained in me it’s been hard to get away from it. I moved to Sweden a year ago. Any time I see groceries on sale or warning they’ll be out of stock for a little my brain is immediately “I should buy all of it”, even if it isn’t something I normally use. I have so much food in my tiny apartment, in nearly every nook and cranny, this felt normal in the US but the swedes keep looking at me like I’m a weirdo, they ask why I have something then are confused when my only reason is “it was cheap” or “it was the last one”. I have 6 kilos of oats, I don’t even like oats, but they’re shelf stable and were on a crazy good sale
Damn I kinda figured my parents are culturally american.
there is a joke in here somewhere about red-dyed maple syrup being allowed to offset the low supply but I’m too dumb to find it.
syrup for offroad use
Syrup for roadside use (Waffle House 80% HFCS Select®, IHOP, Marriot hotels, etc)
As if those shitholes sell anything but phone pole syrup
will be completely empty by February
You’ll never guess when you start sugaring.
New bit: being (faux) nationalist about individual states’ maple syrup. I choose Connecticut. They have nothing else going for them.
Violent clashes erupt between Vermont syrup supremacists and Connecticut syrup connoisseurs because once they get that syrup in 'em, they get all antsy in their pantsy
WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT NUTMEG COUNTRY YOU GODDAMN BURLINGTONIAN CHAMPLAIN GUZZLER
Oh god, not the maple cartel too! We’re all going to be stuck drinking A grade syrup soon, and after that it’s the goddamn A grade swill at the bottom of the tank.
It is extremely funny that they redid the old grading system where 3.5 out of 5 grades were “Grade A” for a new system where EVERY GRADE is “Grade A”.
It’s the shit they skim off the top when they’re too impatient for the dark or very dark stuff that actually tastes like what it is.
I remember the first time i tried Canadian Maple syrup, it was delicious. But its also very expensive here even with the tmec, so i mostly eat hotcakes with jelly and dulce de leche
tfw the TWPI (tasty waffle & pancake index) is at a historic low not seen since the great dry flapjack crisis of 1923
Just Anglo-Français things
The Canadian Syrup-Dollar will be fully replaced by the Chinese Soy-Yuan.
