I know AI isnt very popular around here and for good reason, but this is one of the legitimate uses I think. Just like anything else, stuff like ChatGPT will hallucinate if you ask it direct questions, but its actually pretty helpful if you say something like “I’m going to speak to you in Mandarin Chinese, repeat back to me what I said in English and output my text in Simplified Chinese characters”. I’ve used the new conversation feature of the mobile app to help me drill sentences and practice tones, along with stuff like Hello Chinese that has speech recognition for its lessons too.

Is there anywhere to see a breakdown of how many votes they got in states that had them as write-ins? As far as I can tell, they still just lump all write-ins together, official or not.

Haven’t had trick or treaters in 7 years across 3 different apartments and multiple states. Just 1 fairy princess around Year 5 and had to scramble to find some stickers to give her. BlueSky got like 100K new signups in a day when Twitter announced it would let all posts be used to train the Grok AI. Artists are starting to migrate specifically, but even a lot of my friends finally shut down their Twitter accounts. There’s extensions that help you find your Followed people on Twitter under their BlueSky handles. It sucks because it’s still a big corporate platform, but it’s at the very least better than Twitter.

I thought most people were reasonable about their concerns and didn’t seem to blame the people moving in as much. It is a little weird to be wealthy (as opposed to seeking asylum) and move somewhere and not even speak a little of the language like that one family. The guy at the end was saying that it’s not the fault of the people moving in, but the local government colluding with the property owners to extract as much money as possible without doing anything to address the problems it was creating for locals.

There’s probably a dozen other restrictions you can add onto this because the list never ends, but one that got me was that you can’t get paid while traveling outside the country. Every day you’re gone, that’s a day they slash off your month’s pay. People will ofc say if you’re so desperate to be on SSI you shouldn’t be taking leisure trips, but this applies to people literally just crossing the border to visit family in Canada or Mexico. And they definitely keep track of when and where you’re going and how long you were there. So there’s an extra element of social isolation if you happen to be from an immigrant family.
