  • Maybe you just have the wrong bars in your area? I don’t go as often as I used to but for me going to a (bistro) bar or a brewpub offers a nice change of scenery. Sitting outside watching other people strolling by gives you something else to talk about. Or when the weather is crap, I’ll sit inside sipping some dark craft beer I can’t buy in the supermarket.

When we hang out someone’s home conversation tends to dry out after an hour or so and we just end up playing board games (which is fine too).

I had a passport once I kept in the topbox of my motorcycle during a camping trip. It also had a stick of butter in it for cooking. this went fine when the temperature was sub 20°C. On the return day it was hot as hell however. I pulled out my passport at the ferry and it was covered in butter. The desk lady was like, da fuck?

  • Altruism can actually be evolutionarily advantageous. For example, vampire bats share food with hungry individuals, and this can be reciprocated later. Insects like ants and bees have workers that give up their own reproduction to help raise relatives, thereby still passing on shared genes. Even among unrelated animals, repeated cooperation can favour altruistic behaviour.
