Mods take this down if it’s too close to JAQing off territory.
Are they meant to be used like any other set of pronouns? What’s the possessive form?
I don’t remember if it’s why Comrade/Them specifically exists in the list, but when we originally had the pronoun megathread/struggle session I among others requested there to be an option that signals acceptance/participation for those people who pronouns/gender etc. don’t play a large role in self perception.
Right, that makes a lot of sense. Do you personally prefer for people to use “comrade” when referring to you in the third person though? If you don’t think pronouns play a role in your self perception, are you ok with whatever? They/them?
I am an odd duck that has rarely cared what people refer to me by, whether it’s pronouns or formal name. Yeah, I am generally okay with whatever so long as the person is using the chosen label respectfully. I can DM you more info if you’re curious, but to be concise I’ll say I have always perceived myself as myself, and have never found labels adequate enough for me to see myself as anything else.
Yeah, I’m the same way. I’m the child of immigrant parents who will still occasionally misgender me, not out of malice, but because they aren’t always great with English pronouns. I don’t care and I’m cool with people just calling me comrade.
Initially was an opsec thing, though, but I’ve admitted I’m a dirty cishet man already.
This is unrelated to anything here, but did you used to post on Sigmarxism on reddit? I recognize your user name from somewhere. I don’t ham pretty much at all anymore these days because of Covid apathy from…everywhere, but I still love Tau & paint a lot and I really loved the “finkpieces” people posted before I stopped going to reddit for good.
Yup! Someone spun up a Sigmarxism community on Lemmygrad where I saw a few other oldheads posting but afaik it hasn’t been overly active.
I’ve just found that given a choice, most of the time I prefer to be perceived as a genderless digital communism
That’s me too. I’m a communist construct existing in cyberspace.
These are not my actual pronouns but just another layer of digital anonymity

When I made the account I thought that my podcast co-hosts might post on here too, but it’s ended up being mostly just me. So in this case “them” is plural.
I don’t know shit about fuck when it comes to gender but my whole life I’ve been referred to as he/him or they/them.
I started off with Comrade/them as I was trying to keep a bit of opsec and was completely ignorant about gender. I added he/him after a while for several reasons. First I realized opsec is a near impossibility for me but also I wanted to try to own my cis hetero identity and ignorance openly. I have learned a lot from my time here but I think by showing that I am a comrade first and a him second it buys me a bit of a softer rebuke if I need reeducation.
I haven’t really thought about it since I made my account, but I use different pronouns irl that fit my assigned gender. I set my pronouns, name, and other information differently all over the internet to try and mix things up for privacy reasons and wanted to stay ambiguous. I try not to participate in the trans mega or threads where I think I’d be perceived as faking an identity that isn’t mine though. So if folks think [any] or [none] makes more sense in the context of this site, I’d change to that instead.
I tacked comrade/them on at first because I thought it was cute and also felt like a solidarity thing to stand with trans and enbies folks. Idk if that is ok or not. More recently I’m starting to dive a bit more into gender as a social construct and how it’s bullshit. I’m sort of wondering if it’s ok to switch to they/them though even though I mostly identity and present as cis male. But I don’t really care about my gender much anymore. Idk, I don’t wanna feel like I’m stepping on toes.
Yeah I guess I feel a similar way tbh, I’m perfectly comfortable with taking masculinity and keeping the bits I like while discarding the toxic crap so I feel solidly cis. But at the same time, if someone theys me I don’t mind, I know a few people that use they/them as the default for everyone and I can kinda get behind that (so long as it’s corrected for those who don’t wish to use they/them pronouns of course).
Yeah my default for others is they/them unless specified or I am corrected. I don’t really connect masculinity to my maleness and if I am honest, I’m actually a pretty feminine male anyway. I just present as and am assumed to be a male. And like I said I am cis as far as I am aware.
I use it because “comrade” is still actually used to refer to people within political parties in South Africa, mostly within political parties that were part of the resistance to apartheid. If you watch an ANC/SACP/COSATU conference you’ll hear the word comrade quite a bit.
