Had the uno reverse of this the other day. I don’t want to respond to this to justify myself, but damned if I’m gonna let this mf have the last word.

Often. Even more often I realize there is no point since the recipient is either a troll or incapable of rational thought.

Yes, I write more than twice the work emails than I send. I spend 15 minutes on slack composing a reasoned response with examples and references then edit it down to one sentence. Because I know from bitter experience noone reads long form, at least, not for work. They’d rather spend weeks back and forth on one liners with days in between responses, or only when prompted, than answer one email properly and the whole thjng sorted in a day. Even this is too long. But I’m going to hit submit before the urge to edit overhwlems me.

98% of everything I write gets deleted almost immediately. More if we count typos.

Curious about the math you use to calculate that percentage. Show your work!

Hah! I would have estimated more like one percent but I do still type with a real keyboard occasionally, where I am markedly faster and more accurate. Nevertheless, I still delete most emails, notes, comments, etc without saving them.

That’s really curious to me. I delete what must be less than 1% of the things I write with the intention to send. Maybe I’m reckless? Or maybe I think carefully enough before deciding on starting to type something worth sending? I dunno.

But deleting almost one hundred percent of what you type, seems like a lot of wasted time at the keyboard, to me.

I type pretty fast, it is more just that my brain doesnt work very well. Many times I am writing things just to organize my thoughts.

Okay, yeah. I wonder how long it took you to write those other 99 comment drafts that you discarded before sending this last one. Or the one before your latest comment. 😅😉
