Calling the Covid-19 vaccine mandate part of an “era of betrayal” that was now “over,” Hegseth said the Pentagon was discarding “absurd, overreaching mandates that only weaken our war fighting capabilities,” such as “the universal flu vaccine and the mandate behind it.”

💯 ^ I got really bad pneumonia in boot. Coughed so hard I threw up. Powered through it for 2 month like the fucking idiot teen I was and it eventually lifted. But have to say, I think the vaccines they give us in boot are the reason I don’t get sick as much as most people do to this day.
It is a truly miserable disease. I understand why it had up to a 40% fatality rate before antibiotics–anyone with a comorbidity up to and including JUST BEING A LITTLE OLD would be absolutely flattened by that kind of coughing and fever.

But they give you a massive shot in your ass cheek and make you sit and rock back and forth on the floor for a while because it feels like a golf ball sized lump. They call it the peanut butter shot. I did get anthrax and smallpox shots tho. Anthrax shots are incredibly painful.

IIRC my mom’s ex-husband got the typical vaccines (flu, yellow fever, etc.) in the military. Then there was shit labeled like “vaccine A1004, vaccine A1005, vaccine B312,” and so on. They just jab you with a giant-ass syringe that’s a cocktail of stuff and they don’t tell you what all of it is.

Theres a period in every basic training rotation where almost everyone in the barracks gets sick, usually happens around two-three weeks in, and there are always two or three guys who are straight up bed ridden and pass out risks
A day comes where one morning they have to bust out multiple vans to drive recruits to the base hospital or clinic. And this is a couple weeks after everyone has their shots, I can’t imagine the carnage that’s gonna hit some of these training rotations
