Obviously they said a rich family had a 2 year old that wouldn’t stop crying so they made towers really high to get away from the noise because they themselves are babies.

Holy shit I’ve been in that tower and I didn’t even know. TBF, we showed up in August, and apparently 95% of the town just shuts down for vacation. Still managed to find some mind-blowing tortellini.

12th century cameras weren’t very good. Too many pixels, Terrible noise reduction and lousy tonal gradation due to compression.
They also tended to distort perspective for some reason.
It’s a black and white picture of a miniature model of the city, so yes, fake. I don’t think we actually have any pictures of the skyline, so it’s mostly guesswork.

Yeah, what I expected happened was that the b/w pic was from the early days of photography (1850’s) and that the most of the towers were ruined during The World Wars.
Though reading on the topic of the towers, it sounds like the populations of towers has declined much more gradually since the 13th century ish. Says to me the vast majority should have been knocked down by the time photography emerged.
Probably means the photo is fake or (as another commenter suggested) is a photo of a clay model of how the towers were described.

Sure, it’s still mostly true. Likely in the 80% range, at most. But give it another year or two of additional AI improvements, and it won’t be anymore.
Hell, even now I’ve had to start filtering videos more on the content’s behaviour - whether it is realistic or not - than any AI oopsies like sudden changes in the background.

I think someone said it’s a picture of a model city made to represent what it looked like. Not sure how true that is or if it’s AI. The buildings look cartoonish though so I’m inclined to believe it’s really a model city.
In my eyes, it’s clearly a clay (or similar material) model of a city. Some of the towers taper through the middle as if they’d been sqished into shape by hand, windows and other features don’t maintain a constant shape/size when in rows, and in the modern day image you can make out individual bricks in the tower while in the b/w one everything is completely smooth.
To my old-ass eyes I thought it was an old picture of a painting… Looking closer I could totally see it being an old picture of a model too.
