How many on that list are in southern US states? Seems odd for so many massive churches to all exist in places where christianity is supposedly persecuted.
and for every example of a country where christians are systematically persecuted, we can find examples of christians persecuting other religions.
No one is saying it doesn’t happen. But we are say it’s not nearly as common as christians make it seem. and even then, most cases, christians are being persecuted by other christians. It’s pretty wild.
The most ignorant and rude question I have, which I just dont understand… Before europe went and colonized and raped the global south, they did not have christianty
It blows my mind how many have taken to heart the religion thrust apon them by european colonists who’s sole intention was to erase indigeious culture and voice, why do so many praise the european god?
Why would folks not cherish thier own and throw out religion of the whites colonizer?
here in north america, they “re-schooled” and ran conversion operations to destroy the native culture and assimilate them into the white norms. It was brutal, violent, ugly, and genocide.
Now anyone I meet from the global south, (specifically the caribean and south/central America) is deeply christian/catholic?
A religion forced apon the people of the land with violence and no choice?
I …dont understand the acceptence in severed histories from your own people.
edit: I feel like if anywhere christiainity should be persecuted is the places if was forced on native populations violently with no choice, IE, south americans countries and the caribean, yet again, everyone Ive met from those places follow the colonizers relgion.
I didnt think of that. Of course, Im more versed (albeit still ignorant to a lot) in what happened to the native peoples of my very north region, but
idk. Ive just, The peoples who were genocided here, what culture remains, it seems they really respected life and the earth for what it gave. I often wonder how the world would have looked without colonization and missionaries. I didnt think of them, the missionaries prior, so, thanks for informing me of that. Its still… another cultures religion, pushing thier religion on someone else. Like their the door knockers of history.
I guess I should listen to this again, this creator has done a few episodes in south and central america, and it has had me in tears.
Christianity reached the South via missionaries (not that kind) wayyy before the Odd Millennia ever started at all, and before colonization or bloodshed
Many missionaries that came to the South before colonization were extremely peaceful and some of them were even martyred
The demographic of Christianity continues to shift from the Global North (Europe, North America) to the Global South (Africa, Asia, Latin America). Christianity in the Global South is growing both qualitatively and quantitatively at a phenomenal pace in comparison to Global North Christianity.
Huh… I’m an inhabitant of the so-called Global South, particularly, Brazil.
And what I see isn’t quite what you’re arguing, much to the contrary.
I see Christians infiltrated within the judiciary system using justices’s authority to seize a statue of Lucifer (it’s been more than a year since a temple of Quimbanda had their statue seized after pressure of Christians; meanwhile, the fucking “Cristo Redentor” and its replicas exist without a trouble across the country).
I see Christian “justices” trying to argue it was the mãe-de-santo (woman practitioner of Candomblé/Umbanda), morally attacked by an intolerant christian Uber driver upon trying to request a ride from a terreiro to a medical appointment, the “intolerant one”.
And I lost count of how many times I have faced religious intolerance disguised as “dad jokes” from neighbors and “DSM-5-based diagnosis” from probably Christian psychiatrists since I became a practitioner of a Left-hand Path centered on Lilith.
So, no, it’s not Christians who are being attacked by non-Christians, at least not in Brazil, one of the largest countries in the Global South. It’s Christians who have been attacking non-Christians; even worse, using the entire apparata of the state to do so.
Ahh, I see you meant the global south, which india isn’t really part of, since it is north of the Equator.
Also you are ignoring the persecution of other religions.
If Christianity is actually persecuted, then they brought it on themselves. Shouldn’t have forced indigenous peoples to abandon their religions, and forced them to become Christians. Y’all should have been better neighbors, not bothering other people with your bullshit constantly. If you acted like any other religion, you wouldn’t have the backlash.
they asked this in the suburbs btw.
Christianity is still SERIOUSLY prosecuted in most parts of the south
South of what
South Of Heaven… \m/

south of the world
South America? Australia? New Zealand? Southern Africa?
look up what the Global South means
The global south is not a geographic term…

They did, in fact, have Christianity
Multiple members of religious orders went to the South before colonization, and some of them even condemned colonization
Christianity existed way before colonization in the South
what was there before the missionaries though?
I didnt think of that. Of course, Im more versed (albeit still ignorant to a lot) in what happened to the native peoples of my very north region, but

and “religion” is not “culture”
completely seperate things
your faith shouldnt depend on where you were born
It’s almost like you could’ve written that to begin with instead of being vague af

Hmm. Such persecution, much complex.
Edit: Also, both South America and Africa make up for a good chunk of the global south so my comment wasn’t even that far off.

hundreds of christians are being arrested in India due to anti-conversion laws
hundreds of christians are being shot in the middle east by both sides

I see Christian gang members prohibiting and even invading terreiros inside comunidades (“favelas”) and murdering those who aren’t Christians.

that is one country
Huh, I didn’t realize penguins were so anti-christian.
the south of where?
earth
There is Christains in Gaza and Lebanon being murdered right now by the IDF if you wanted an actual example…
They are, but not because they are Christian.
Well it is, it’s because they aren’t Jewish.
Oh look, it’s the guy from the meme!
In what way?

For everyone with a brain, here’s the actual source. It’s definitely good for a couple laughs.

“it didnt happen but if it did you probably deserved it”
and no man shall be punished for the crimes of his father
and “every other religion” LOL
Name one other religion that engages in door to door proselytism. I’ll wait.
Your own violence begat the violence that you receive.
Also, I said “any other religion,” stop lying. Typical US Christian.
Also, don’t quote the Bible at me. I don’t follow your fanfiction book, so it doesn’t apply to me.
Catholic Priests or Brothers or Deacons even wont come knocking at your door unless you requested it or they are concerned
and how can I do an earthly deed of oppression after its already happened centuries ago?
Changing the goalposts, I see.
That doesn’t stop the very same deacons and priests from sending their followers to violently convert me.
We are talking about Christianity as a whole, not just one specific sect.
Again, you’re a typical US Christian. A liar.
Catholicism is Christianity
and will people stop retconning the US into my life?
and which diocese/archdiocese sent violence after you?
what are you talking about? Vague shit is not helping you make your point.
prosecuted?
No they’re not, despite how hard we try
they are
You have actual proof, or is this a trust me, ma’am type deal?

My bad, I thought I was responding to comment about Xtians being “persecuted” in the South. My mistake .
Mate, you left off the /s.
