I don’t think I can agree with you. It’s more like she was always correct about fascists and how they operate, their rhetoric and stuff. That gave her some veneer of being a leftist, along with the company she kept, but I don’t think that was ever the case. She’s always been terrible regarding leftist theory, or how to talk to liberals, things like that. Her attitude has always been that leftists should attempt to appeal to centrists.
She’s always been a comfortable navel gazing liberal, she just got more petty and miserable, or she figured she could get more attention by being aggressive.
I said whiff of success. I started watching her before her incels video and she started getting noticed by the algorithm around then. It’s because her super old content, as in the videos posted under her pre-Contra Youtube channel that has her deadname as part of the channel name, had videos of her shitting on Muslims as some edgy nu atheist with channer characteristics. To me, this goes beyond her being a milquetoast lib. She fucking hated Muslims as an edgy teen then and she probably still fucking hates Muslims after all these years later. Or at least dislikes them enough that she doesn’t care if a predominately Muslim population gets genocided by non-Muslims. Old Contra would probably have cheered on the IOF for providing the final solution to the Islamic question while present Contra has politically developed enough that she is merely apathetic over the ethnic cleansing of a Muslim population.

Personally I’m much more likely to engage with and be disappointed with Contra because I was actually a fan of hers, which cannot be said of Vaush. Contrapoints used to hold a special and high place in online left queer spaces that Vaush obviously never held.

Also, I think the reaction ContraPoints is largely amplified due to a non-negligible part of the community having been a fan of hers in the past when she still pretended to be on the left and are thus disappointed. From what I recall the response didn’t get harsh until people pointed out Buck sucks and asked her to clarify her position and she doubled down and said she agreed with him.
